Deuteronomy 9:1

“Hear, O Israel! You are crossing the Jordan today to go in to dispossess nations greater and more powerful than you, great cities fortified to heaven,

Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,

1-2 Attention, Israel! This very day you are crossing the Jordan to enter the land and dispossess nations that are much bigger and stronger than you are. You’re going to find huge cities with sky-high fortress-walls and gigantic people, descendants of the Anakites—you’ve heard all about them; you’ve heard the saying, “No one can stand up to an Anakite.”

Israel, listen to me. You are now about to go across the Jordan River. You will take over the land of the nations that live there. Those nations are greater and stronger than you are. Their large cities have walls that reach up to the sky.

اسْتَمِعُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ: أَنْتُمْ عَلَى وَشْكِ عُبُورِ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ لِتَدْخُلُوا لِطَرْدِ شُعُوبٍ أَكْبَرَ وَأَعْظَمَ مِنْكُمْ، وَلِلاسْتِيلاءِ عَلَى مُدُنٍ عَظِيمَةٍ مُحَصَّنَةٍ بِأَسْوَارٍ تَبْلُغُ عَنَانَ السَّمَاءِ،

Hør efter, Israels folk! Nu er det tid at gå over Jordanfloden og erobre landet fra folkeslagene på den anden side. De er større og stærkere end jer og bor i byer med himmelhøje mure.

Hört, ihr Israeliten! Ihr werdet jetzt den Jordan überqueren und das Land auf der anderen Seite in Besitz nehmen. Ihr werdet Völker von dort vertreiben, die größer und mächtiger sind als ihr. Sie wohnen in gewaltigen Festungen mit himmelhohen Mauern.
