Deuteronomy 20:19

“When you besiege a city for [d]a long time, making war against it in order to capture it, you shall not destroy its [fruit-bearing] trees by swinging an axe against them; for you may eat from them, and you shall not cut them down. For is the tree of the field a man, that it should be besieged (destroyed) by you?

When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege:

Suppose you surround a city and get ready to attack it. And suppose you fight against it for a long time in order to capture it. Then don’t chop down its trees and destroy them. You can eat their fruit. So don’t cut them down. Are the trees people? So why should you attack them?

وَإذَا حَاصَرْتُمْ مَدِينَةً حِقْبَةً طَوِيلَةً مُعْلِنِينَ الْحَرْبَ عَلَيْهَا لاِفْتِتَاحِهَا، فَلا تَقْطَعُوا أَشْجَارَهَا بِحَدِّ الْفَأْسِ وَتُتْلِفُوهَا لأَنَّكُمْ تَأْكُلُونَ مِنْ ثِمَارِهَا. هَلْ شَجَرَةُ الْحَقْلِ إِنْسَانٌ حَتَّى تَهْرُبَ مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ فِي الْحِصَارِ؟

Når I belejrer en by, må I ikke ødelægge frugttræerne på stedet. I må spise af frugten, men ikke fælde træerne. Det er jo ikke dem, I kæmper imod.

Lorsque vous attaquerez une ville et que vous serez obligés de prolonger le siège avant de pouvoir vous en emparer, vous ne porterez pas la hache sur les arbres fruitiers des alentours ; vous pourrez en manger les fruits, mais vous ne les abattrez pas, car l’arbre des champs n’est pas un homme pour que vous le traitiez comme un assiégé.

町を攻め取るときは、その町の木を全滅させないようにしなさい。木の実を取って食べてもよいが、切り倒してはいけません。木は敵ではないのです。

“여러분이 어떤 성을 점령하려고 오랫동안 포위하고 있을 때 도끼로 과일 나무를 찍지 마십시오. 과일은 여러분이 먹어야 하므로 과일 나무를 찍어서는 안 됩니다. 나무는 여러분이 싸워야 할 대상이 아닙니다.

Als u een stad belegert, verwoest dan niet de fruitbomen. Eet zoveel fruit als u wilt, maar hak de bomen niet om. Zij zijn immers geen vijanden die moeten worden gedood!

“Quando sitiarem uma cidade por um longo período, lutando contra ela para conquistá-la, não destruam as árvores dessa cidade a golpes de machado, pois vocês poderão comer as suas frutas. Não as derrubem. Por acaso as árvores são gente, para que vocês as sitiem?[a]

Quando sitiarem uma cidade, não destruam as árvores de fruto. Comam de toda a fruta que vos apetecer; mas não deitem abaixo as árvores. Não se tratam de inimigos que seja preciso abater!

Când veţi asedia o cetate timp de mai multe zile, fiind în război cu ea pentru a o cuceri, să nu distrugeţi pomii fructiferi, tăindu-i cu securea. Să mâncaţi din ei şi să nu-i tăiaţi, căci pomul de pe pământ nu este un om ca să-l asediaţi.

När du belägrar en stad under en lång tid för att anfalla och inta den, ska du inte fälla och förstöra dess fruktträd. Ät all den frukt du vill ha, men hugg inte ner träden. De är inte människor som du ska belägra.

เมื่อท่านบุกล้อมเมืองอยู่นานเพื่อยึดเมือง อย่าโค่นต้นไม้ทิ้งเพราะท่านจะได้รับประทานผลของมัน ไม่ต้องโค่นต้นไม้ ต้นไม้ในท้องทุ่งเป็นมนุษย์หรือท่านจึงต้องล้อมทำลาย?

“你们围攻一座城久攻不下时，不可用斧头砍掉那里的树木，因为你们可以吃树上的果子。田间的树木岂是人，让你们围攻吗？

你 若 许 久 围 困 、 攻 打 所 要 取 的 一 座 城 ， 就 不 可 举 斧 子 砍 坏 树 木 ； 因 为 你 可 以 吃 那 树 上 的 果 子 ， 不 可 砍 伐 。 田 间 的 树 木 岂 是 人 ， 叫 你 糟 蹋 麽 ？

「你們圍攻一座城久攻不下時，不可用斧頭砍掉那裡的樹木，因為你們可以吃樹上的果子。田間的樹木豈是人，讓你們圍攻嗎？
