Then Abner said to Joab, “Let the young men now stand and [b]have a contest before us.” And Joab said, “Let them stand.”

And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

Abner challenged Joab, “Put up your best fighters. Let’s see them do their stuff.”Joab said, “Good! Let them go at it!” 15-16 So they lined up for the fight, twelve Benjaminites from the side of Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, and twelve soldiers from David’s side. The men from each side grabbed their opponents’ heads and stabbed them with their daggers. They all fell dead—the whole bunch together. So, they called the place Slaughter Park. It’s right there at Gibeon. 17-19 The fighting went from bad to worse throughout the day. Abner and the men of Israel were beaten to a pulp by David’s men. The three sons of Zeruiah were present: Joab, Abishai, and Asahel. Asahel, as fast as a wild antelope on the open plain, chased Abner, staying hard on his heels.

Then Abner said to Joab, “Now let the young men arise and [k]hold a contest before us.” And Joab said, “Let them arise.”

Then Abner said to Joab, “Let’s have some of the young men get up and fight. Let’s tell them to fight hand to hand in front of us.”“All right. Let them do it,” Joab said.

Then Abner suggested to Joab, “Let’s have a few of our warriors fight hand to hand here in front of us.”“All right,” Joab agreed.

فَقَالَ أَبْنَيْرُ لِيُوآبَ: «لِيَقُمْ جُنُودُنَا لِلْمُبَارَزَةِ أَمَامَنَا». فَأَجَابَ يُوآبُ: لِيَقُومُوا.

Da foreslog Abner, at de unge krigere skulle åbne slaget med tvekamp. Joab gik med på idéen,

Abner schlug Joab vor: »Lass uns Kampfspiele veranstalten, die jungen Soldaten sollen gegeneinander antreten!« Joab war einverstanden,

Entonces Abner le dijo a Joab:―Propongo que salgan unos cuantos jóvenes y midan sus armas en nuestra presencia.―De acuerdo —respondió Joab.

Abner proposa à Joab : Que quelques-uns de nos jeunes hommes se mesurent en combat singulier devant nous !– D’accord, répondit Joab.

Dayon nagsiling si Abner kay Joab, “Paawayon ta sa aton atubangan ang pila naton ka maayo nga mga soldado.” Nagsugot si Joab,

그때 아브넬이 요압에게 “우리 양편에 서젊은군인들을뽑아서로칼싸움 을시켜보는것이어떤가?” 하고제안 하자 요압은 기꺼이 승낙하였다.

Abner i-a zis lui Ioab:– Să se lupte tinerii între ei, înaintea noastră!– Bine! a răspuns Ioab.
