But Hezekiah did nothing [for the Lord] in return for the benefit bestowed on him, because his heart had become proud; therefore God’s wrath came on him and on Judah and Jerusalem.

But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

Doch anstatt Gott zu danken und ihm seine Wohltat zu erwidern, wurde der König überheblich. Seinetwegen entbrannte Gottes Zorn über ganz Jerusalem und Juda.

Hizkia reageerde echter niet dankbaar op de vriendelijkheid van anderen, want hij was trots geworden. Daarom werd God toornig op hem en op Juda en Jeruzalem.

Mas Ezequias tornou-se orgulhoso, e não correspondeu à bondade com que foi tratado; por isso a ira do Senhor veio sobre ele, sobre Judá e sobre Jerusalém.

Men Hiskia återgäldade inte det goda han fått utan var högmodig; därför kom vreden över honom och över Juda och Jerusalem.
